Open AI’s New Features Announced 2023 Dev Day 🤖

OpenAI had its 2023 Dev Day Last week and made some huge announcements for the future of AI that I’d like to cover, and I know you should know.

Open AI’s continues to become more of a consumer tech company as it releases more technology and advancements to the public, which is why you should take more interest

OpenAI seems to be leading the way in becoming a game-changing tech company, and first up on the list of game-changing is their introduction of Custom GPTs. 

In simple terms, Custom GPTs are custom versions of ChatGPT that are unique to what users instruct them to do. They are implementable in everyday life as well as business.

Now that you’re briefed, let’s get into the rest of the features:

GPT-4V API

ChatGPT rolled out a new ability to analyze pictures with its new GPT-4V API.

This could be used to analyze different forms of marketing as it can analyze any picture you input and answer any questions about it.

You can easily use this to analyze any of your marketing, like ads, landing pages, sales pages—anything—and get a full analysis plus recommendations back.

The key? The instructions you give it. Follow a template or framework for analysis and you’ll get something useful back.

Using this to take screenshots of creatives, ads, or copy on your competitors' websites could be a great use case for analyzing and studying competitors’ different tactics and implementations.

You could use this along with custom GPTs (Later in the email) to create bots or automated tools for companies to study their competition and create breakdowns of their content and marketing, without having to dedicate any human resources to that.

A common theme I keep thinking about when seeing the new features released on Dev Day is how many jobs these new AI tools and GPTs will replace soon.

GPT-4 Turbo

GPT-4 Turbo is more capable than the previous version of GPT-4 (released in March) and knows world events up to April 2023.

OpenAI says that with a 128k context window, it can fit the equivalent of more than 300 pages of text in a single prompt.

OpenAI is also offering GPT-4 Turbo 3x cheaper for input tokens and 2x cheaper for output tokens compared to GPT-4. OpenAI plans to release a stable production-ready model in a few weeks.

People are already finding ways to go faster than Turbo by using it along with Custom GPTs as well.

Assistants API

The Assistants API is a new way OpenAI allows you to code and build AI assistants within your own applications.

The difference here is that it introduces coding to the mix, but to help with that OpenAI has released some simple guiding steps. I’ve included an example image of one.

You’ll have to wait until this is released to the public in a non-beta version to use it yourself, but I’m 99% sure it’s already been released by the time this email has been sent.

New Modalities in the API

GPT-4, DALL-E 3, and TTS have all received new modalities with this update.

The main significance of all these modalities and especially Dev Day as a whole is the decrease in pricing. With all the new releases and technology these features are only getting cheaper for consumers and businesses.

DALL-E 3 has especially reduced in price, making it cheaper than before to produce useful images for your marketing campaigns and creatives.
